Bhutan

Land of the Dragon, and home of "gross national happiness", this kingdom has a wonderful timeless quality, in part because of the unique architecture and compulsory national dress. A land shrouded in Buddhism, the people are gentle and genuine, and have a certain dignity about them.

With a population of 700,000, and not a piece of flat land to be found, Bhutan has, happily, not been affected by western culture.
