May Day

May morning in Oxford is a unique event. With the choir singing in spring at the top of Magdalan Tower

at six in the morning to thousands of people below, a large number of which have stayed up all night

partying. The pubs and cafes open from around 5am, and the scene is set for something a little surreal.

Normally you can rely on a number of students taking a traditional dive from the bridge into the Cherwell, but this year the ridiculous council closed the bridge, so none of that. I admit that most jumpers broke bones, but this was lazy policing and ruined the fun for everyone. However, a particularly glorious day meant I stayed out with the camera until midday.
