Santiago

It's the location that makes this city special, nestling in the foothills of the Andes, the longest mountain range in the world. About a third of the population of Chile lives here, as the winter smog will testify.

It's a city of some wealth, but despite this, and being clean and efficient, it lacks the cosmopolitan edge to be one of the world's great destinations. It will get there though, and given time it will be every bit as good as it's wine.
