Shanghai
City of opportunity in a communist system, Shanghai has always been different to the rest of China.
In fact, walking down the street you would have no idea that this was a communist country at all.
Every chain store you would be used to in most western countries are trading here and allowed to prosper.
However, one of the things I found that sets this city apart from others in the world is the traffic. To qualify for a license you have to be clinically insane! To be a cyclist you need to be a gladiator, and to be a pedestrian you need to be very very careful. It's not all their fault. With a population of 20 million people there is almost as many bikes on the road, but many riders view a red traffic light as just a suggestion! Cross the road with care !
